-When You Want it Done Right The First Time

We can handle most all your residential, and smaller commercial interior painting needs from simple repaints, to repainting multiple colors on trim, walls, ceilings, etc.  We handle Interior painting in the Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade and Orchard Mesa areas.  And of course we can also handle your drywall repairs, although, unlike most painters, we can do an expert job of repairing your walls or ceilings.

What can you expect to pay for Interior Painting?

If you are planning on painting the interior of your home you're probably researching average interior painting prices on the internet, by phone, etc. You might be getting quotes from professional painting companies or maybe you're thinking of doing it yourself.

Before you make your decision here are a few things to consider about each option.

Hiring a Professional Painting Company

Hiring a pro will save you a ton of time when painting the interior of your home. If you go this route, you can expect to pay:

Labor Costs of about $.70 per square foot of wall/ceiling space. To figure this, multiply the perimeter of the room by the height, then, multiply by $.70.  This will get you an approximate labor cost if there's not a lot of repair work needed.

A 15x15x8 room will have about 480 square feet of wall space.

480' x $.70 = $336.00

To figure the paint costs, divide the square footage by 300, then round up.  So in this case it will take 2 gallons of paint.  This will add about $100 to the price above if using a high quality paint such as Lowes Signature paint.  This price includes some time for getting and delivering the paint, etc.

Then, supplies will be added. The typical cost for this will be about $60 ($.13 per square foot) for a typical room. These supplies include: roller covers, tape, plastic, caulk, tray liners, etc.

*The prices that are listed for paint and sundries will vary

The total cost for painting an interior will run about $1.03 per square foot (about $490.00 for the for a 15x15 room) of wall space being painted. A professional painting contractor will be able paint an average bedroom like we listed above in only half a day.  The job will include a labor warranty and a manufacturer's warranty.

Doing it Yourself

Obviously, you save about $.70 per square foot on labor when you do the painting yourself. The trade off is your time. Many homeowners take 2-3 times the amount of time a professional painter will need.  In addition, providing a professional quality job is not as easy as many would think.  A professional painter will leave your walls looking even, with no paint lines, light and dark spots, missed spots (holidays), paint on trimwork, etc.  So a big question is whether or not you are ok with a decent job, or prefer a professional quality job.

Paint will cost the homeowner about $.30 per square foot and sundries about $.40 per square foot, since roller handles and poles will need to be purchased in addition to the normal supplies. The total price to do it yourself will run about $.70-1.00 per square foot of wall space plus your time.

Do it yourself or hire a pro? It all comes down to what's important to you. A pro will get in, get out and stand behind the work  Doing it yourself will save you some money, but will cost you in time and usually quality.
